Dental Exams & Cleanings

Attending regular check-ups at our Boonsboro practice is the first step toward improving your oral health and the beauty of your smile for life, and new patients are welcome to take part in our $99 new patient special!  During your first visit with our team, we’ll create a baseline of your oral health.  Digital X-rays and photographs, recording past restorations and noting current decay or missing teeth are part of  Dr. Film’s exam.  In addition, Dr. Film inspects for cancer and checks the balance of your bite that might lead to TMJ problems.  If needed, he will discuss these areas with you and offer recommendations for treatment. Next, our trusted hygienist, Kelly will record your gum health followed by a thorough cleaning which will leave your smile feeling fresh and polished.

Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating that can be applied to the chewing surface of molars and premolars in order to better shield them from potentially damaging bacteria or food particles. Because these teeth have deep grooves and are more difficult to clean, they can become damaged or decayed even when a patient practices diligent oral hygiene. With the help of a sealant, this tricky area can be smoothed over. While children and teenagers are often the primary candidates for sealants, Dr. Film can recommend them to adults if they have depressions in their teeth that could benefit from the extra protection.
